Dissolved Oxygen Measurement LMS water offers the 501-OX Mackereth (galvanic) oxygen electrode, which includes a built-in Pt100 temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation of the DO measurement. Each electrode is supplied with oxygen cell (OC3) "capsule" which is stored in a special canister. The special storage canister for each oxygen cell (OC3) "capsule" performs three functions: 1. Provide protection from both physical damage and the ingress of atmospheric oxygen. 2. Short-circuit the capsule contacts: necessary for galvanic type oxygen cells. 3. A small sponge pad in the cap of the canister keeps the membrane moist. The sponge should be kept wet by periodically adding a few drops of distilled water. The 501-OX oxygen electrode includes all the accessories for BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) experiments.
